Fuel & More DOES provide assistance to Kittery Families to Stay Warm
Your generosity is what drives Fuel & More
To bring you up to date, because of your generosity we continue to respond to the needs of the most vulnerable in our community. As a volunteer-run nonprofit, through our fundraiser, grants, and donations, Fuel & More raised and spent over $140,000 this past year to help keep Kittery families and individuals in their homes, ensure that no family or individual is left in the cold, and that we never have to turn away a family or individual in need.
Again, this year, as we approach the colder, shorter days of autumn, requests for fuel are picking up. While fuel prices continue to rise higher and faster, we plan to continue to cover the cost of two heating “deliveries” for each individual or family, totaling thousands of gallons of heating oil, propane, kerosene, needed cords of wood, and pellets, as well as covering fuel costs for FairTide housing. Through a collaboration with Mainspring’s intake staff, even more Kittery residents are now able to access Fuel & More funds to cover their fuel costs. With an increase in costs and need for all kinds of fuel we anticipate an additional expenditure of $40,000 to cover higher fuel prices this year.
And there’s “More”. Your support has enabled us to not only meet our mission of helping keep Kittery families warm but also allowed us to expand our ability to assist Kittery families and individuals with other unexpected bills and emergencies, helping them get through difficult times with our “MORE” mission. In addition, through “MORE” we provide gift cards to Kittery school counselors and nurses to help students get needed items in emergency situations. Partnering with the Kittery Holiday Basket Program, we purchase over $3000 in jackets or snowsuits, winter boots, hats, mittens, and socks each year for Kittery children.
With even greater need expected this coming year, our goal is to raise enough money to fulfill 100% of heating assistance, warm clothing and emergency needs for our community.

About Our Organization
Our organization is completely separate from the Town of Kittery. And we are proud to say that our revenue is generated entirely by donations from caring residents and businesses, and funds earned through grants and fundraisers. All proceeds go directly to help our Kittery neighbors.

An Intake Specialist at Mainspring will conduct a phone interview and may schedule an in-person, confidential interview.

In 2014, Fuel & More transitioned from a town sponsored organization to its own 501c3 nonprofit entity.
Our Services
Dedicated to helping keep Kittery families warm. We also provide assistance through MORE to keep people in their homes. This may include help with energy audits, with large CMP bills or help for transportation needs such as automobile repairs to keep employment.
We assist individuals and families who exceed state-driven income guidelines, but are struggling financially. This may be someone who has had a major life-changing event, such as loss of employment, illness, or death of a family member.
